Beautiful days in San diego

Warmer weather is coming back slowly but surely and we wish everyone better health especially for so many of us who got infected and coughed (or are still coughing) our way through several weeks of wet and cold times. I am trying to get a handle on this blogsite, still learning the ropes and would appreciate your contributions. I really thank a couple of people who have responded. First, Ivan, please check out his graphic design business in Mira Mesa and two inquiries we received using the site. One was on finding out more information on Fred Sabater, Filipino artist and another from a UC Berkeley historian who is doing a study on community participation in San Diego. Off to a slow start but a sure start.

San Diego Filipino; some type of oxymoron statement. If we are living, working, and playing in San Diego (or any other US city) then we are FIRST AMERICANS! Hell, most Filipinos I know are/act “whiter” than the white people. Why promote racial difference? We are nothing like our descendents in the PI, except for looks, and maybe language (although it seems that almost all of us born here in the US still can’t speak the language, but only understand most of it).

I had gotten this comment a while back last year in August. I have been thinking about this and want to assure everyone that it is not my intention to promote racial differences. I do think that we can enhance our American culture and in addition become better Americans ourselves by cultivating the better parts of our Filipino culture.

  2. Looking for Fred Sabater

My aunt & uncle regularly rented a place to Fred in Borrego Springs many, many years ago where Fred gave them several paintings. I also have some of Fred painting and would like to know more, I know my uncle would like to see Fred again if thats possible.

Can you help reunite to old friends? Please send your e-mail to clay@eeiweb.net.

    Thanks
