Invitation to stand with President Aquino in San Jose

We received this message from Phil E. Pino:

By an unnamed New Generation Filipino-American
(or if you insist: written by Phil E. Pino)

You wear Filipino themed apparel. So what? It still hasn’t granted Filipino representation in the US Senate.

Filipinos in North America collectively have a higher gross domestic product than the ENTIRE nation of the Philippines. What have we done with that power and capital?

You celebrate Manny Pacquiao’s every victory to rejoice all things Filipino. But what does being Filipino mean to you?

We as Filipinos have issues ranging from corruption in the Philippines to lack of representation in the US. We have the power to fix these problems, but lack the will to do so.

For all the Filipino pride we have, it is a shame we don’t capitalize this Filipino Fever into a more productive vision and action. We still have not solved any of these problems. Do you agree?

That can all change and it starts with you. We have a BEAUTIFUL opportunity to initiate a movement starting with a rally when Philippine President Aquino comes to the United States. We will stand beside him during his visit so the New Generation Filipino voice can be heard.

Let’s show solidarity with our fellow Filipinos across the Pacific Ocean that we care.  We stand firm that the negative branding we received due to the recent hostage tragedy at Quirino Grandstand in Manila is not representative of us.

It all starts with being ONE Filipino; that no matter where we are born, what citizenship we have, our ancestral roots will always be from one place -the Philippines. Our time is now. Let us come together as one people.

I will be there at the rally. Will you stand with me?

WHO: YOU, the Filipino people, and friends of the Filipino.

WHAT: To engage President Aquino when he comes to the US and have “Our Voice” be heard.

WHERE: Plaza de Cesar Chavez (local park across from the Fairmont Hotel)

170 South Market Street
San Jose, CA 95113

WHEN: September 25, 2010 at 9am until whenever

WHY: To assemble, show solidarity, and have fun.

Show up, tell others, and let the movement spread like wildfire.
